Learning outcomes assessment criteria:
- Know and understand the component skill/knowledge bases of Business Counselling and their purpose.
- Have a knowledge of the specific needs of young entrepreneurs and how these needs can impact on the development of their business idea.Know and understand own natural responding style and how it may affect the outcome of an interaction or meeting.
- Have a knowledge of the 3 Egan counselling model stages and their component skills.
- Know and understand the role of each counselling skill/technique in the 3 stage model.
- Recognise and understand good counselling practice.
- Discuss the component skill/knowledge areas of Business Counselling evaluating their roles and inter-dependence in order toachieve a successful outcome.
- Present a case-study of a young entrepreneur detailing their specific enterprise support needs. Discuss how their needs are met and evaluate the impact of the support on the likely success of the intended business.
- Critically compare and contrat two or more responding styles illustrating how each may be the most effective in appropriate circumstances.
- Discuss the difference between the 3 Egan stages and give clear examples of their role in the counselling process.
- Compare and contrast each counselling skill accurately identifying its individual and overall contribution to the counselling process.
- With a set helping situation, compare and contrast two possible approaches drawing distinctions between good and bad practice.
