Budapest Youth Enterprise Centre, Budapest, Hungary
Pioneering youth enterprise in Central Europe
The first Youth Enterprise Incubator Centre in Central and Eastern Europe, based on EDW’s successful model, Budapest Youth Enterprise Centre (BYEC) – YBN’s ‘flagship’ youth enterprise centre – was founded in 1996. From its humble beginnings, with four business units and a part–time specialist support team, the BYEC has developed and grown to become the thriving youth enterprise centre it is today. The Centre currently has 22 business units and employs a team of staff, including a permanent counsellor and trainer, supporting the needs of hundreds of young Hungarian business men and women through all stages of the programme.
BYEC actively contributes to addressing unemployment issues among young people and creating a strong micro-enterprise sector. In particular, the support system focuses on target groups such as unemployed people, women and people from ethnic minority backgrounds. BYEC’s goal is to support young people in the exploration of their potential, to acquaint them with private enterprise as a possible career option and to help them develop an enterprising mindset.

Cegled Youth Enterprise Centre, Cegled, Hungary
A ‘satellite’ approach bringing enterprise support to rural villages
A participant in the YBN.1 project, Cegled Youth Enterprise Centre has four business incubation units, accommodated within the Secondary School of Economics, Infomatics and Technology.
Founded in 2001 and operating in a rural setting, Cegled Youth Enterprise Centre has, within its catchment area, a large number of small villages with relatively high unemployment among young people. A ‘satellite’ model has been developed to enable a peripatetic counsellor to work effectively, using local amenities, to deliver the support programmes to young people for whom access to the main centre in Cegled would prove a barrier.
Jesenice Incubator Centre, Jesenice, Slovenia
Youth enterprise programme for IT entrepreneurs
The Jesenice Incubator Centre, which took part in the YBN.1 project, focuses on information technology and targets people of all ages from the local community.
A section of the Centre is set aside specifically to accommodate and run the youth enterprise programme. A unique feature of this sector-specific incubator centre is the availability of on-site mentoring, running alongside a youth enterprise counselling programme.
Neumann Youth Enterprise Centre, Eger, Hungary

It has 16 business units covering 437 square metres, with a full-time manager and a counsellor and trainer from the school teaching staff.
